Dental Implants

Missing teeth can take the joy out of everyday activities you love, from laughing and speaking confidently to eating your favorite foods. Dental implants, tiny metal posts embedded in the jaw, are widely recognized as the preferred form of tooth replacement. Implants offer incredible stability and durability to a range of restorations. To learn how dental implants can benefit you, contact our Provo, UT, practice and schedule your consultation with Dr. Joe Jeppson.

Thanks to the biocompatible properties of titanium, the implant will fuse with your jawbone to effectively replace missing tooth roots. Dental implants can be used to meet any of your tooth replacement needs. You can rely on dental implants for:
  • Single-tooth Replacement - This procedure allows you to replace a missing tooth with an implant-supported crown.
  • Multiple-tooth Replacement – Patients who are missing two or more teeth in a row can have a fixed bridge attached to their implants to permanently fill in gaps in their smile.
  • Full-arch Replacement – For patients missing all their teeth on the top, bottom, or both dental arches, implant-supported dentures can be a long-lasting and functional alternative to removable dentures.
Although Dr. Jeppson does not perform dental implant surgery, he can help provide a referral for the procedure. After you are made comfortable, your surgeon will make a small incision in your gums. Next, he will drill a hole into the bone and insert the titanium post. Over the next few months the implant will fuse with the bone in a process called osseointegration. When this process is complete, you will return to have your abutments attached. It should take about two weeks for your gums to heal from the abutment procedure. At that time, you will come into our office to have your restorations attached to the implants. With Dr. Jeppson's experience and eye for detail, you can rest assured that your restorations will fully return the strength of your bite and blend in beautifully with your smile.

Most patients who are in good health and have sufficient bone density are good candidates for dental implants. Your candidacy may be compromised if you have a condition that puts you at risk during surgery, such as heart disease. Patients with a soft or small jawbone can generally improve their candidacy with a preparatory procedure. A bone graft, for example, can fortify the jawbone in preparation for Dental Implants.

More people than ever are choosing this treatment option when they consider:
  • Dental implants give support to restorations, such as Crowns, bridges, and dentures, in way that looks and feels extremely lifelike.
  • Dental implants allow patients to speak, laugh, and eat without worrying that their dentures will slip out of place.
  • Dental implants can prevent the jawbone deterioration that accompanies long-term tooth loss.
  • With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime.

To help you maintain a beautiful smile, Dr. Jeppson provides only tooth-colored composite dental fillings, which can be custom-matched to the natural shade of your teeth. Fillings restore your teeth after cavity treatment.

They are carefully applied to look completely natural, while providing the necessary support. During your treatment, we will use an intraoral camera to help you understand how decay has affected your tooth, and to illustrate how a Filling will improve the health of your smile.

Offers Root Canal Therapy

Root Canal Therapy is used to salvage a tooth that has become severely decayed. If decay progresses past the outer layer of a tooth, the inner pulp can become infected.

Dr. Jeppson uses advanced, virtually painless techniques to remove the pulp and sterilize the inner chamber, preserving the healthy outer portions of the tooth. Finally, the tooth is restored with a same-day dental crown.

At Jeppson Dental, we create inlays and onlays in-office using our CEREC® technology. These restorations are usually recommended when a treated tooth cannot be adequately supported with a filling, but does not require an entire crown.

Inlays fit within the cusps of a patients tooth, while onlays fit over the cusps. Our Inlays and Onlays are made from durable dental-grade porcelain, and can last many years with proper care.

At-home Dental Care

While in-office exams and cleanings are very important, your day-to-day dental care keeps your smile healthy between visits. Dr. Jeppson and our team can help you learn the most effective hygienic techniques to use at home. We often focus on flossing, which many patients tend to overlook or perform improperly. Flossing is an easy way to avoid gum disease. We also provide take-home fluoride treatments if you have an active decay rate.

Offers Gum Contouring

If you have excess gum tissue or an asymmetrical gum line, it can make your teeth look worn or unhealthy. Dr. Jeppson can remove excess tissue and reshape your uneven gum line to create a more attractive frame for your smile. He uses a surgical laser, making the procedure very quick, comfortable, and easy.

The laser actually seals blood vessels as it removes the gum tissue, greatly reducing inflammation and irritation during healing. It also sterilizes the tissues to prevent infection. Gum contouring is often combined with other treatments such as Veneers and Teeth Whitening for a more comprehensive final result.

Restore Your Smile with Same-Day Crowns

Finding time for dental repairs during your busy schedule can be difficult. In the past, patients who needed to receive a dental crown had to go through a multi-step process that would typically span several weeks. At Jeppson Dental, we can dramatically restore your smile after only one visit with same-day crowns at our Provo, UT, practice.Contact us today to find out how Dr. Joe Jeppson can use same-day crowns to repair your bite and rejuvenate your confidence.

For decades, Dental Crowns — also known as caps — have remained a trusted and effective Restorative Dental Treatment. A crown is a custom restoration that is placed over a damaged tooth to provide support and help improve its function and appearance. Traditional dental crowns are crafted by technicians at an off-site laboratory based on impressions and photographs of your teeth. This conventional method requires you to schedule multiple visits, usually over the course of several weeks. Patients also need to wear a temporary crown while the permanent one is being created.

Same-day crowns eliminate the need for multiple visits, saving the patient considerable time and energy. Recent advances in technology have allowed skilled dentists like Dr. Jeppson to create high quality crowns directly in-office. Using our CEREC® (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) machine, we can fabricate and place your custom crown, often in a single visit. This innovative technology allows us to restore the function of your tooth and achieve your desired look without excessive waiting periods or multiple procedures.

When you choose to receive a same-day crown at Jeppson Dental, we will begin by taking digital images of your teeth. The images are transferred directly to a chairside computer, which uses innovative software to create a detailed 3-D map of your tooth. Next, an advanced milling machine will use this information to fabricate your custom crown, matching it in shape and color to your natural smile. Dr. Jeppson will make final adjustments to ensure an optimal fit before securely attaching the new crown to your tooth. Unlike traditional crowns, this entire process is completed in a single trip to the dentist's office, so you can leave our practice feeling confident in your new smile.

Same-day CEREC® crowns boast an array of benefits over traditional dental crowns for the right patients. Many patients choose to have same-day crowns placed when they consider their many advantages:
  • Same-day crowns are made from special dental-grade porcelain to mimic the look and sheen of natural enamel.
  • Patients do not need to return to the office at a later time to complete their procedure.
  • Patients do not have to wear a temporary restoration.
These strong, durable crowns can last for years with proper care. Crowns can be brushed and flossed just like natural teeth, and simply require periodic check-ups by your Dentist.

Dr. Jeppson's advanced technology can conveniently restore your oral health and smile. To find out whether you are a good candidate for same-day crowns, contact our office today and schedule your consultation.
